A little about me...
I grew up in Sault Ste Marie, where, locally, there isn't an abundance of beautiful scenery. Nothing I haven't shot a hundred times, anyway.
I didn't think say or do anything even remotely interesting in 21 years.
I never thought I could move anywhere all alone. Who would I talk to? where would I stay? Nope! It was out of the question! I would live and die in the Sault. Ugh!
One smoggy October day, a few weeks after I had posted my resume on a job site , I got a call and a job offer at the top rated resort in Canada, on the coast of Vancouver Island. Without thinking twice I accepted it. Two weeks later, with a bag the size of me and weighing twice as much, I was boarding the Via Rail (first class) from Toronto to Vancouver. It was there it began.
It was October 21st 2005 when I moved to Tofino B.C. I instantly fell in love with the people, the ocean the mountains, the rain forest and the locals way of life. I wanted to find a way to keep this beauty always, so I bought a low end 3 megapixel digital camera in the next town. I may as well have glued it to my hand, I took pictures of everything and anything. The rain forest, the beaches, the surfers, the ocean life, random dread locked musicians jamming on the beach. You couldn't turn around with out having your breath taken away by something new. I had to capture it, I had to remember everything, and so I did.
I've learned new things, seen a lot of places and met so many people, and I have tangible memories of it all.
I want to spend everyday for the rest of my life, giving that to others.
Memories that last forever, because change is inevitable.
I don't know what the future will hold but I do know what the past held. I would not have this goal, this dream, this motivation or the equipment, without my Great Grandmother, Mildred Jackson! she's guided me and "kicked me in the butt " when I needed it or lost my vision. She has tolerated my sporadic wandering of the country while I soul searched. My changing jobs every few months, my unorthodox justifications, for all the random adventures and heavy learning experiences I've blindly run face first into over the years. This site, and what hopefully will be a future success with this business is solely dedicated to her, with the utmost love and thanks...and hugs!! xoxo
